Painting is in Corrie’s blood. As is her love for brocante. She has combined both of her passions in her studio – which is also her home – in Bussum. Corrie has an idyllic workspace downstairs and upstairs is where she finds peace amongst her treasured belongings. Photography and text: Margreet Frens.
Corrie’s studio looks like a romantic fairy tale, where her art truly comes into its own framed by the wooden floors and pitted walls. Pastel colours reign supreme, and the ambiance is intimate. In addition to her work as portrait painter, Corrie also makes paintings on walls, panels and other objects for shops and private individuals. As I feast my eyes around her studio, I see that her talent is undeniable with a capital U. Items of brocante go hand in hand with beautiful paintings and wall decorations. The candles are lit, and the coffee is good. The mix of soft pastels and her preference for baroque paintings take you back to times gone by.
