350 years Rembrandt
Rembrandt is perhaps the most famous Dutch painter ever to have lived, an innovative master painter from the 17th century, one of the first to use light and dark to tell his story. Rembrandt lived and painted during a period of prosperity with regard to trade, science and arts, better known as the Golden Age. 2019, 350 years after his death, his life and legacy is celebrated with exhibitions throughout the Netherlands, from Middelburg to Leeuwarden. For the first time in history, a retrospective of all paintings, prints and etchings by Rembrandt from their own collection can be seen in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam from 15 February to 10 June 2019.
